Rocket Academy is officially onboard Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)'s Tech Immersion and Placement Programme (TIPP) for our Software Engineering Bootcamp, which subsidizes up to 70% of the course for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents!

However, a limited number of  TIPP slots are given to us by IMDA each time and our allocated slots for 2023 are all filled up.

What is IMDA's Tech Immersion and Placement Programme (TIPP)?

At Rocket Academy, we are excited to be partnering up with Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to extend our flagship Coding Bootcamp to Singaporeans looking to up skill and graduate as industry-ready tech talents.

The Tech Immersion and Placement Programme (TIPP) is a grant given by the Singapore government organisation Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). The immersive training courses aim to massively support the education needed to place people into tech positions.

Essentially, IMDA's Tech Immersion and Placement Programme (TIPP) aims to convert non-ICT professionals into industry-ready ICT professionals! After undergoing the intensive and immersive training programme delivered by industry practitioners, successful applicants will be required to find placement in tech job roles.

Please note: TIPP is strictly for Non-ICT fresh graduates and those who wish to switch to job roles in the ICT industry.

For more info, visit IMDA's website here.

Who is eligible for TIPP?
  • Singaporeans and PRs (must be able to provide a valid NRIC and all other required documentation as laid out by IMDA.)
  • With a strong intention to switch careers to a tech role or building their own tech start-up
  • Have not previously received a TIPP subsidy from IMDA
  • No previous formal education in computer science, computer engineering or programming
  • No previous work experience as a software engineer/developer/programmers
  • Remaining tuition fee not covered by the subsidy has to be paid from your own funds (i.e. not sponsored by company)
How do I apply for TIPP subsidies?

UPDATE: Applications are closed for 2023 as all subsidised spots have been taken up.

If you meet the eligibility criteria listed above, please sign up for our Bootcamp via this customised TIPP application link: https://rocketacademy.typeform.com/CodingTIPP

If you pass our admission screening test for Bootcamp and are ready to be enrolled, we will reach out to IMDA to obtain and confirm your eligibility for TIPP. You don't have to separately reach out to IMDA for this purpose.

If you have more specific questions related to this, please reach out to us at hello@rocketacademy.co

How much of the Bootcamp course fees will be subsidised?

TIPP courses supported by IMDA are heavily subsidised.

Those below 40 years will enjoy a subsidised course fee of up to 70%.

Those 40 and above will enjoy up to 90% subsidies.

Eligibility for subsidies is strictly subject to IMDA's discretion.

If the full conditions of the TIPP subsidy programme is not met or adhered to by the applicant, Rocket Academy reserves the right to charge the applicant for any remaining course fees.

Do the subsidies apply to both the full-time and part-time bootcamp course?

Yes! However, we have limited seats for TIPP. So do apply early if you're sure this is something you'd like to pursue. Once subsidised seats are filled, you'd have to wait for the next subsidised intake or pay the full course fees of SGD$7,999.

However, in the event that TIPP spots are not filled yet, we will open up the remaining spots on a first-come-first-served basis to the next cohorts.

If you'd like to be the first to know about TIPP spots for future cohorts, do sign up for our waitlist here: https://forms.gle/geFrFweXtRrWcBoH9

What happens if I drop out of the Bootcamp course BEFORE I graduate?

Students under TIPP scheme who choose to leave, or defer to a later course cohort, will be required to pay the remaining balance of the course in full.

*Note: Students attending the course under the TIPP scheme are required by Rocket Academy to attend at least 90% of all mandatory class days throughout the course and submit all projects and assignments to graduate.

What happens if i decide NOT to take up a tech job/role or build a tech company upon graduation?

Graduates benefitting from TIPP subsidies will be placed into job-placement services by Rocket Academy immediately after graduation. There are many career opportunities in the ICT industry. Some examples include Data Analysts, User experience designers, Web Developers and Software Development.

Rocket Academy requires students who successfully graduate from Bootcamp but for whatever reason fail to comply with the job hunting process (i.e. decide not to pursue a tech job/role or build their own tech start-up within 6 months of graduation) to pay for 15% of the total course fee as the full conditions of the student contract would not have been met.

Do I need to complete Rocket’s Fundamentals prior to applying for Rocket’s TIPP Bootcamp?

W encourage interested applicants to complete Rocket’s Fundamentals (previously known as Coding Basics) first, as it will provide you the training and background needed to prepare you for the rigour in Bootcamp.

However, for those who have background in coding, it is not essential that you graduate from our Fundamentals program if you are able to pass our admissions coding quiz which will be administered upon application.

"Rocket's community was one of the main reasons for me to take the leap of faith to make a career switch with them instead of other bootcamp providers. The camaraderie and energy levels of my coursemates and students of the other batches really value-added to my learning and always gave me motivation to achieve more with each project, which ultimately helped me land my current job."
